Awkwafina

American actor and musician Awkwafina began her career with hilarious hip-hop tracks that addressed sexuality and racial identities with a boldly comedic perspective before increasing her presence in Hollywood. Nora Lum was born to Chinese Koreans living from Forest Hills Queens. Her first exposure to music was via the trumpet. Alongside classical music and jazz, Nora Lum started to study hip-hop during her teens. At college, she was studying journalism and women's studies. In addition, she spent a short time studying Mandarin at the University of Beijing. It wasn't until after graduating that she turned her attention to music. The year 2012 saw My Vag (as a retort to Mickey Avalon's My Dick) became an internet hit and was included on her debut album Yellow Ranger. It also included other popular hits, including the body positive Queef as well as the cheeky hometown tour NYC BitcheUSD. The single that debuted was directly connected to the album Awkwafinas NYC, her guide to travel in 2015. She opted to pursue a career as an actor after completing her first two projects, as an author and musician. Apart from early series such as Girl Code and Tawk she appeared in films such as Neighbors 2, Storks as well as Bad Rap. In 2018, she landed an array of noteworthy performances, which included Dude Ocean 8 and Crazy Rich Asians. The EP was released in June.
