Antonia Lofaso
Chef Antonia Lofaso's culinary creations are an invitation to explore deeper into the depths of her personal world. The food she serves evokes interest that was born from the moment she stepped outside the suburbs of Long Island and into the culturally diverse environment of Los Angeles. Her belief in the idea that cavatelli and carnitas could coexist effortlessly on a menu conveys a sensibility which is constantly evolving. All of her dishes have a common vision, embracing the present and reminiscing on the old. Inspired by her heritage as an Italian-American, Lofaso launched Scopa Italian Roots in 2013 and was instantly well-received. Lofaso's interpretation of traditional Italian has been called one of Los Angeles' most compelling Italian restaurant chains. Lofaso has been described as a neighborhood restaurant that consistently serves meals that are delicious, authentic and welcoming. Lofaso worked as an apprentice to culinary masters taking their tips as well as taking risks. She never hesitated to do so to follow her instincts. After a brief period, Lofaso rose to the top at Wolfgang Puck's Spago. Later she worked alongside many celebrities, and transformed a variety of Los Angeles restaurants. Lofaso, Sal Aurora, and Mario Guddemi partnered to open Black Market Liquor Bar Studio City in 2011. She was able to secure a place within Black Market as well as her partnerships. Lofaso had the chance to enjoy the creative freedom she wanted. Black Market doesn't have one particular direction. This is the intention. A meal could start with potato chips and peppers dill, followed by Korean meatballs and wings. Antonia is the center of this dizzying variety. In her long career Lofaso has measured her achievements through her ability to comprehend her audience and remain true to her own personality. Famous appearances on Top Chef Chicago & Top Chef: All Stars highlighted her talents outside of the kitchen. Lofaso's talents are also apparent in her regular roles in judge on CNBC's Restaurant Startup judge as well as on the Food Network's Cutthroat Kitchen Man vs. Child & the ABC's Real O'neals. Lofaso teamed up together with Penguin at the end of 2012 in order to release The Busy Mother's Cookbook 100 recipes to prepare Delicious Home-cooked Meals. The book tells her story about the challenges she encountered while studying at her first French Culinary Institute and raising her daughter Xea. Lofaso says that the inspiration for her achievements is derived from her kitchen. This is the way she stays on top of the latest happenings. She has revolutionized the industry's aesthetic by redesigning chef wear with a focus on style and function, through her brand Chefletics. The main goal of Lofaso is to stay true to her vision. With this in mind she created Antonia Lofaso Catering. This will provide clients with an incredibly personal experience.
